These instructions were originally addressed to a specific issue a faculty person ran into in a classroom, but the instructions are easily generalized to apply to every room with HDMI (all Science Center classrooms, some Lentz Hall and Johnson Fine Arts Center classrooms, and all Tarble Arena classrooms) and may be useful to other Chromebook users in the future, so I'm posting them here.
- If the classroom's touch panel is asleep, poke it to wake it up.
- Plug the HDMI cable into your Chromebook and the HDMI port on the front of the classroom's equipment rack.
- Poke the Rack HDMI input on the touch panel.
- Your Chromebook should automatically see the projector, and duplicate the display.
- In the bottom-right corner of your Chromebook's screen, click on the control/notification area (where it says the time, wifi strength, battery percentage, etc.). (See Figure 1.)

- In the menu that pops up, there’s a section with a volume slider. To the right, there’s an icon that looks kind of like an envelope. Click on it. (See Figure 2.)

- The menu slides off the side, and you’ve got a list of outputs and inputs. The Outputs should be “Speaker (Internal)” and something along the lines of “DVX-250 (HDMI/PP)”. If “DVX-2250 (HDMI/PP)” isn’t selected, click on it. (See Figure 3.)

- Click on the Control/Notification Area to dismiss the Audio Settings panel, or just click somewhere on the webpage.
- You're done!
