Can I fix a discolored image on a data projector?

A discolored image from data projector is frequently purple:

This problem is normally caused by one of three conditions:

  1. A bent, broken or missing pin in the VGA cable connecting a computer to the projector or equipment rack. Examine both ends of the cable, inspecting for damage. Replace if required. (This is the most common problem.)
  2. An incorrect setting in the projector setup. Use the projector’s remote and ensure the appropriate (RGB) input is selected. (Computer or PC, for example.)
  3. Faulty LCD panel in the projector – no local fix is available.
