To properly print to PaperCut from a Mac, you need to have NoMAD setup properly (see this Albert article to setup NoMAD on your Mac), remove all traces of UniFLOW (Carthage's previous universal printing solution), and then properly install and setup the PaperCut printing client and black & white printer.

Removing UniFLOW

First, remove the UniFLOW Preference Pane.

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences...
  2. If there’s a UniFLOW preference pane, it’ll be in the 5th row of icons.
    • If you don’t see a UniFLOW preference pane, head on down to the next section.
    • If you do, right-click on it, and select Remove “UniFLOW” Preference Pane.

Next, the printer.

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences...
  2. Navigate to Printers & Scanners (2nd row, 6th column)
  3. If there’s a UniFLOW or CarthagePrint printer listed there, click on it, and then click the MINUS (-) button at the bottom of the list to remove it.

Remove the UniFLOW client from startup.

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences...
  2. Navigate to Users & Groups (4th row, 1st column)
  3. Navigate to the Login Items tab on the top.
    • If you see UniFLOW Client in the list of apps, click on it, and then click the MINUS (-) button.
    • If you don’t see UniFLOW Client in the list of apps, proceed.

Finally, remove the UniFLOW client from the machine.

  1. Open a Finder window and navigate to the Applications folder (/Applications)
  2. Delete the UniFLOW folder. It contains the UniFLOW client and some other stuff UniFLOW uses.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Log back in and empty your computer's trash.

Install the PaperCut Client

  1. Download PCClient.zip (you must be signed into Google with a Carthage email to download the ZIP).
  2. Navigate to your Downloads folder (or wherever you saved the ZIP) and double-click PCClient.zip to unzip the file.
  3. Move PCClient to your Applications folder.
  4. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences...
  5. Open Users & Groups (4th row, 1st column)
  6. Navigate to the Login Items tab on the top.
  7. Click the PLUS (+) button, and add PCClient to your login items. Click the Hide checkbox next to it.
  8. Restart your computer.

Install the PaperCut Printer

Make sure you're signed into NoMAD before proceeding.

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences...
