Here’s how you can receive emails alerting you of subject reviews from Choice Reviews Online.

You can search for and read reviews without creating an account, but if you want to set your personal preferences, create email alerts, lists, etc., you need an account. Create an account by clicking “register” and following the prompts. Once you have done that, you can create a monthly email notification which will contain reviews in the subject area(s) in which you are interested.

  • Click on Cite/Track Personal Alerts.
  • Create a name for your alert, such as, Economics.

You may enter search criteria if you wish, or leave it blank to get everything. Under Format Results, do you want to see citations or the full review? Under Choice Subject Headings choose your subject area. Use the CTRL key to select more than one subject. If you wish, you may refine your search by selecting the Readership Level – anything from General Reader to Professional. You can choose the Recommendation Level from the reviewer – from Essential to Not Recommended. Format allows you to filter to Books, All Electronic Media, or Internet Resources Only. If you know the LC Classification, you may set up a call number range here. Finally, there is a list of Interdisciplinary Categories, such as, Women and Gender Studies. When you are finished click Save Alert. You will be notified via email when reviews match your selection criteria.
